About

Anyone can join

Film Society membership is open to everyone. However, we operate on a subscription basis because (with just a few exceptions) we have non-commercial screening rights, and must screen to members only. It is easy to Join, and membership runs for 12 months from month of joining. We also offer an upgradeable "Three Film Sampler" to make it easier for potential members to sample our films. Guests cannot be admitted, unless specifically stated in the Schedule, in which case visitors are admitted as members’ guests and a donation (notes only) is payable at the door. Screenings are in the Grand at the Embassy Theatre, 10 Kent Terrace, 6.15pm Mondays from 26 February to the end of November. The Schedule is on the following page. As with any list, it is subject to change due to circumstances outside the Society's control. Our annual programme, as well as appearing on this web site, is published in a colour brochure which is distributed widely from mid-February around the Wellington area. You will find it on the counters of most movie theatres, libraries, book shops, cafes and other venues, or view it here.  We are sometimes asked Where Our Films Come From. Click on the link for a summary of the process. Your comments are welcome. Become a Fan of the Wellington Film Society on  Facebook, or follow us on Twitter. Win prizes, get weekly reminders of screenings and comment on the films.
